My Thoughts on Netflix’s New Show Mismatched
Warning: There will be spoilers in this article so if you haven’t already watched the show refrain from reading!
Recently Netflix has been releasing many new shows with Indian representation — Indian Matchmaking, Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives, and Never Have I Ever — and I am completely obsessed with all of them. The most recent one that I just had to check out was Mismatched which I started watching without any prior knowledge about the show. It wasn’t until I was halfway through the first episode that I realized that the storyline was almost identical to the book When Dimple Met Rishi by Sandhya Menon, which also happens to be one of my favourite books.
Needless to say, I was ecstatic and felt like I had stumbled upon a gold mine. In the 6 short episodes I watched in the first season I felt a roller coaster of emotions and I feel the need to desperately unpack all of them. So let’s delve deeper into the differences between the book and the show and my overall thoughts on the series!
